Read MoreAs part of the Fabric community sabbatical, we’re going to take a pause on August 7 and 14 from regular Sunday gatherings and get out and do some of that learning together!
Read MoreThere are more together ways of being together! And as much as science has revealed about how we humans and our planet are wired and work, there is an art to being together in life-giving ways that Fabric seeks to cultivate!
Read MoreAs Greg Meyer and Kris take some sabbatical time away to pause, imagine, and reflect on what’s next, we get the same opportunity to think about the value of being together and what the next chapters of Fabric can look like.
Read MoreSurgeon General Vivek Murthy named loneliness the number one challenge to health in America. And that was before the pandemic! With all the disconnecting, we need more togethering! While your drive and ability to connect may be buried under some layers, they haven’t gone anywhere. Everyday they give you the opportunity to help someone heal, weave a healthier self and a healthier society. Sounds a lot like what Fabric is all about! Don’t miss these weeks that set the stage for our summer of exploring what it means to be together as Fabric as we send Greg and Kris off for sabbatical!
May 29: Togethering Takes Time Alone. Love your neighbor. If this was easy, perhaps the things being held this Memorial Day weekend in our own hearts and around the country would not be so terribly heavy. The long-held wisdom Jesus shared nestled “love your neighbor” between two other calls to love: God and, foundationally, yourself. That means spending some quality time with yourself! Maybe you have too much of that, or not enough. Maybe it sounds boring. Or terrifying. Join us at Field this Sunday, on livestream or the podcast to explore solitude as a building block of togethering. EPISODE PAGE
June 5: Togethering Beyond: What’s Your Mission? You are shaped to make a contribution. We are investing two weeks learning about our m&m’s and how your unique contributions through them make togethering work. This ‘m‘ is your mission. You alone are the right person at the right time to reach out beyond to give, love, heal, or serve others in big or little ways. In case this sounds like a ‘have to’ you don’t have time for, spoiler alert: your mission may be the most fulfilling part of your life! EPISODE PAGE
June 12: Togethering Within: What’s Your Ministry? We’re talking about our m&m’s again. Last week was the ‘m’ of your mission, your contribution beyond. This week is the ‘m’ of your ministry. That’s a weird word perhaps, but it is the way you uniquely serve the same community that serves you and others. We are all shaped to be fulfilled not by filling ourselves, but by sharing the gifts we have with others. Greg Meyer’s sabbatical begins the next day so it’s not a bad time to consider what we all do to keep Fabric healthy. EPISODE PAGE
June 19: Togethering Takes Being There Technology allows us to have many connections these days, and so easily! Yet the depth and strength of relationships forged of time, attention and a little struggle are hard to come by. How can we spend more of our valuable attention in ways that bring us together? Read MoreOur first official start of weekly gatherings, then as Jacob’s Well, was Sept 17, 2006. We’ve seen couples meet, get married and have kids who are now in high school! We will use September 19 by being together outside, enjoying some music, sharing our vision and what we see in our future, and we’ll spend time remembering, imagining and celebrating.
Read MoreSpirit Garage and Fabric will gather together at the Minnehaha Falls Bandstand on Sunday, September 5. There are plenty of benches, lots of space, and a good amount of shade at The Falls. Our theme will be “Happy Together? It’s Complicated.” As we move in and out of various states of the pandemic, see people we haven’t seen in a long time, or come together on a Sunday morning, there are many things to celebrate. And also, it’s complicated.
Read MoreIf you are reading this you are a player in the Game of Life. The assumptions you hold (knowingly or not) about what kind of game life is and how to play affect how you show up and experience it everyday. Starting August 1 we’ll have some fun, kids and adults together, exploring some of the common games we play as humans that keep us from playing in the big, real, challenging, amazing Game of Life.
Read MoreFabric… now on the World Wide Web! Fabric is a thoughtful, progressive church community based in South Minneapolis. Together we're experimenting with what church can be for folks, and engaging life "woven deeply" (with ourselves, God, and all others) through conversations that matter, significant relationships, and inspiring experiences for people of all ages. We take this stuff seriously, and prioritize playfulness along the way!
